What is microneedling?

Microneedling, also known as collagen induction therapy, uses a series of tiny needles to create very small, controlled skin injuries. The injuries trigger your body’s healing factors to travel to the site and stimulate collagen and elastin production.

What happens during a microneedling treatment?

First, your aesthetician at Pure Touch Skin Center washes the treatment area and applies a topical numbing agent. Then, they turn on the SkinPen and pass it over your face, covering one section at a time until they’ve treated the entire area.

With help from the topical numbing agent, the pain from microneedling is minimal. Most people feel the vibration from the pen more than they feel the needles. Some patients note feeling slightly more discomfort in more boney areas of the face such as the forehead and cheeks. 

The procedure can take anywhere from 10-15 minutes, depending on the area treated, and another 10-15 minutes for the numbing cream. You’ll typically start seeing results after the second treatment. The number of sessions you’ll need depends on your aesthetic goals and often ranges from 3-5 sessions.
