How Restylane® Delivers Natural-Looking Results

Collagen is a fibrous protein — and the most abundant protein in your body, accounting for about 30% of the total amount. It serves as the major building block of your skin, muscles, bones, tendons, ligaments, and other connective tissues and can also be found in the organs, blood vessels, and intestinal lining.
Unfortunately, though, collagen production starts to drop off when you’re in your mid-20s, and existing collagen breaks down at a faster pace. In addition, the collagen present is of lower quality than when you were younger.
Without the structural support, your skin begins to wrinkle and sag, and you lose volume in your cheeks and the backs of your hands. In short, you (and everyone else) see the first visible signs of aging.
Our team of aestheticians at Pure Touch Skin Center understands how uncomfortable lines and wrinkles; creases, sags, and folds can make you feel, which is why we offer injectable dermal fillers to restore lost volume and erase the visible signs of aging. We’re particularly pleased with the Restylane® line of products because they offer such natural-looking results. Here’s why.
All about collagen
Collagen’s main jobs are to provide structure, strength, and support to tissues throughout your body.
Specific tasks include:
- Helping fibroblast cells grow in your dermis (middle skin layer), encouraging new cell production
- Replacing dead skin cells
- Providing a protective covering for all types of organs
- Giving strength and elasticity to your skin
- Helping your blood clot
At this point, researchers have detected 28 different forms of collagen. They’re different in how the molecules are assembled, the cell components added, and where the collagen is used in your body.
What are dermal fillers?
Dermal filler injections are a nonsurgical cosmetic procedure that restores lost volume related to lack of collagen and loss of subcutaneous fat. By restoring the skin’s support structure with a synthetic gel or other manufactured formulation, your face regains its tautness, and lines and wrinkles disappear.
This cosmetic treatment is quick enough that you can do it on your lunch hour, and recovery time is minimal. And best of all? You see your results right away, and they can last months to years depending on the filler type and the location.
The beauty of Restylane
Restylane was approved for cosmetic treatment in 2003 by the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for patients 21 and older. It consists of a line of facial fillers that use hyaluronic acid to help smooth wrinkles and add volume to your cheeks and lips. Hyaluronic acid is found naturally in our bodies, especially in the skin and connective tissues.
The hyaluronic acid in the Restylane fillers clings to your skin and holds in water to produce elasticity and volume. The acid section of the molecule also attracts more water, preserving the recently added volume.
Restylane comes in many formulations, depending on the specific area you want to address.
Restylane Contour
Used for cheeks, it helps restore cheek definition with natural-looking results.
Restylane Defyne™
Restylane Defyne is used for deeper nasolabial folds (smile lines) and marionette lines (droopy lines at the corners of your lips). Its XpresHAn Technology™ reduces deep lines while retaining normal facial movement.
Restylane Kysse
The first lip filler designed with XpresHAn Technology™ allows for both flexible movement and natural-looking volume.
Restylane-L
Restylane-L treats thin lips, marionette lines, and nasolabial folds, which are more commonly known as laugh lines or smile lines.
Restylane Lyft™
Restylane Lyft restores volume to your cheeks and reduces sagging. It can also smooth skeletal hands with prominent veins, so they appear more youthful because it’s the only FDA-approved hyaluronic acid filler for use on hands.
Restylane Refyne™
Restylane Refyne treats mild-to-moderate nasolabial and marionette lines.
Restylane Silk
Restylane Silk reduces fine lines around the lips while also plumping up your lips.
