5 Skin Conditions that Can Be Helped with Chemical Peels

As the years go by, your skin performs its job well, shielding you from just about everything the world can throw at it. Unfortunately, the evidence can begin to pile up in the form of blemishes, lines, and discolorations, especially in highly exposed areas like your face. To clear away the damage, many people turn to chemical peels.

At Pure Touch Laser Center, our team provides our patients with the most advanced tools and techniques to bring out the best in their skin. As part of our extensive suite of services, we offer chemical peels, which provide solutions for a host of skin concerns, and we review five of them here.

1. Uneven skin tone

As we age, our skin cells don’t regenerate or repair themselves as easily, which means that your skin may look a little more tired and dull as you age. To refresh and revitalize your skin, we recommend a light (superficial) chemical peel, which strips away damaged and dead cells from the outer layer of your skin, revealing healthier skin below.

These peels are quick and easy and there’s no downtime afterward. Many of our patients incorporate these light peels into their regular beauty regimens to stay one step ahead of aging skin.

2. Age spots

As you get older, the effects of prolonged exposure to the sun become more evident. This occurs because your melanin is more apt to bunch together, which creates age spots. Through our medium peel, we can get down to where these areas of hyperpigmentation develop and strip them away, clearing the way for clearer skin to grow.

3. Fine lines and wrinkles

The development of fine lines and wrinkles is perfectly natural as you age, but it doesn’t mean you have to resign yourself to them. Through regular light chemical peels, we can prevent lines and wrinkles from forming, and with our medium peel, we can address many fine lines and shallow wrinkles that have already developed.

If you have deeper lines and wrinkles, you may want to opt for a deep chemical peel, which gets down into your dermis for dramatic skin resurfacing.

4. Scarring

If you’d like to clear away unpleasant reminders of acne or an accident, chemical peels work well to address scarring. Depending upon the degree of scarring, we choose the right peel to strip away these blemishes, leaving smooth, scar-free skin behind.

5. Acne

If you currently have mild-to-moderate acne, a chemical peel can help clear away the outbreak more quickly. This approach to acne isn’t for everyone, especially if you have severe acne. The best way to find out whether a chemical peel can clear your acne is to sit down with one of our experts for a consultation.

If you’d like to learn more about how a chemical peel can hit the restart button for your skin, please contact one of our two offices in Glendale or Sherman Oaks, California.
